New Riff Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey Sour Mash is an excellent example of American rye whiskey. It’s made using a “sour mash” process that ferments the grains with the enzymes and yeasts that are already in the grains themselves. The whiskey is aged for four years in 53 gallon American Oak barrels, giving it a light golden color and the flavor of oak as well as cinnamon, vanilla, and baking spice notes. The whiskey is bottled at 100 proof, making it strong and flavorful, but still smooth enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks.
